Lab School Admissions
Admissions Process
The Laboratory School is made up of one class for each grade level, PreK-9. The applicant pool is composed of applications submitted by parents for their children. No child is accepted unless an application is on file.
A child’s application will remain on file for one year unless the parent notifies the school to remove it. Please notify the school if your address or telephone number changes after you have submitted an application. All applications for Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students must be on file by the last Friday in January each year to be considered for the upcoming school year.
We will begin selecting students for the 2027-2028 school year on February 1, 2027.
Admission Guidelines
The selection for admission of students is accomplished very objectively in accordance with the following considerations:
- Academic Records (PreK and Kindergarten applicants will be given an age appropriate assessment)
- Brothers and sisters of children who are currently attending the Laboratory School (who have applications on file) are considered first. Sibling status refers to children with the same natural mother or father. If there are two siblings to be considered for a single vacancy, the one living closest — driveway to driveway by the nearest driving route is accepted.
- The school is to maintain a student population that is representative of the community.
- A third consideration is distance from the school to the legal residence of the child. The child’s residence is where the legal parent or guardian resides. The primary residence is the home for which homestead exemption is received. If the parents are divorced or separated, the domiciliary parent’s (or the parent with sole custody) residence will be considered the legal residence of the child/children.
- Child of Southeastern Louisiana University employees may be considered for enrollment.
The child/children must physically live at the address on the application both on the date the application is submitted to the Laboratory School and on the date of acceptance to the Laboratory School.
Fee Structure
Registration Fee: $125.00 (non-refundable)
Material Fees: $75.00 (non-refundable)
Above fees are for ALL grades (Pre-K through 9th) and are due upon acceptance.
Tuition Payments
First Semester Tuition: $3,500-$4,000 (waiting for final approval) per student (grades 9-12), $1,562.50 per student (grades K-8) and $2,750.00 (pre-K)
Second Semester Tuition: $3,500-$4,000 (waiting for final approval) per student (grades 9-12), $1,562.50 per student (grades K-8) and $2,750.00 (pre-K)
Total Tuition Fee Per Year: $7,000-$8,000 (waiting for final approval) per student (grades 9-12), $3,125.00 per student (grades K-8) and $5,500.00 (pre-K)
Application
The Application for the 2027-2028 school year will open on October 1, 2026.
