School

SLU Lab School is a collaborative effort of the Tangipahoa Parish School System and Southeastern Louisiana University College of Education. Our school is accredited by the Louisiana State Department of Education.

We are located in the Southeastern Louisiana University Charles E. Cate Teacher Education Center, which is a specifically designed learning facility including instructional classroom areas, music, art, and physical education facilities, a media center, and a science lab.

There are 260 students that attend our school from pre-kindergarten through the eighth grade. We have one section of each grade level and offer not only the standard educational courses, but also art, physical education, and music.   Many of our students participate in the gifted program or in the talented art, music, and or drama programs offered through Tangipahoa Parish School System.

The Southeastern Laboratory School is the foundation of bright futures. A high percentage of our students consistently score above state and national averages on standardized tests, earn honor roll status in high school, achieve a high grade point average in college, and enjoy successful careers.

Our school motto, "We are Caring, Creative, and Encouraging.  We strive for excellence in all areas by being better today than we were yesterday.  We are the future" is valued by our school family. We believe that having these values will help us build the future, and we work hard to improve ourselves every day so that we can improve our world.
